About

We are urban Christians who embrace the Lutheran confession of faith as we seek to be strong disciples who love the Lord God with all our heart and our neighbor as ourselves and who strive to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We are urban Christians. We may have grown up in the city or in the country, but we have come to love the hustle and bustle of the city. The very first Christians were city-dwellers. In the city there may be every form of idolatry and vice, but God’s redemptive work is manifest most powerfully in the city.

We embrace the Lutheran confession of faith. We do so because we think that the Lutheran confession gets it right and is fully faithful to the Scriptures and to the Triune God. Because we believe that the Lutheran approach to the Christian faith is absolutely correct, we have partnered with other Lutherans by being a member of the Lutheran ChurchMissouri Synod.

We seek to be strong disciples. Discipleship doesn’t mean a one-time encounter with Jesus, but a lifetime of trusting in him. Whether we are doing something in the church or outside of it, we remain disciples of our Lord.

We seek to grow in love for God. As disciples, we seek to love God with all our mind by learning more about him, and to love him with all our heart and soul by yielding our will to his. Thus, worship and Bible study are important to us.

We seek to grow in love for our neighbors. As disciples, we seek to love our neighbors as ourselves, for we see that God has made us all. We welcome rich and poor alike, as well as people of every nationality and ethnicity, for Christ gave his life to save all.

We seek to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For us the Christian life is not simply a bunch of do’s and don’ts, but an opportunity in which we see God’s love being present more and more in every aspect of our lives.
