Other Regularly Scheduled Services

Advent is a nearly four week period of preparation in December for Christmas. Advent midweek services are held in the church basement on Wednesdays during the first three Wednesdays in Advent (December 2, 9, and 16 in 2020). We begin with a light supper served between 6 and 6:45 p.m., followed by the worship service at 7 p.m.

On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day we celebrate the birth of Christ. The Christmas Eve service (at 7 p.m.) is a service of lessons and carols. The Christmas Day service (at 10:45 a.m.) is a service of Word and Sacrament.

Lent is a six and a half week periodĀ of preparation for Easter. Ash Wednesday services are held in the sanctuary at 7 p.m. Lenten midweek services are held in the sanctuary on the Wednesdays thereafter at 7 p.m. through the fifth full week of Lent. Holy Week services (Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and the Easter Vigil) are held in the sanctuary. The services for Holy Thursday and Good Friday are held at 7 p.m. The Easter Vigil takes place at 7 p.m. on the (Saturday) night before Easter.

We gather for worship on other holidays. Ascension Day services (usually in May) are held on the 40th day after Easter; one of our sister churches in the suburbs joins us for the celebration. We return the favor by going out to their church for Thanksgiving Eve and Thanksgiving Day services.
