Advent is a nearly four week period of preparation in December for Christmas. Advent midweek services are held in the church basement on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. during the first three weeks of Advent. (Consult the church calendar for more details.)
On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day we celebrate the birth of Christ. The Christmas Eve service (at 6 p.m.) is a service of lessons and carols. The Christmas Day service (at 10:45 a.m.) is a service of Word and Sacrament.
Lent is a six and a half week period of preparation for Easter. Lenten midweek services are held in the sanctuary on Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. from Ash Wednesday through the fifth full week of Lent. The services for Holy Thursday and Good Friday are held at 7:30 p.m. The Easter Vigil takes place at 7:30 p.m. on the Saturday night before Easter.
We gather for worship on other holidays. Ascension Day services (usually in May) and Thanksgiving Eve and Thanksgiving Day services are held in conjunction with a sister church in the suburbs. Consult the church calendar for details.
